What’s Happening?

Sail4th 250 will transform New York Harbor from July 3–8, 2026. The event brings the world’s largest flotilla of tall ships and naval vessels to the city. Historic ships, military vessels, air shows, and waterfront festivals will fill the harbor. It is one of the biggest maritime celebrations New York has ever hosted.

NYC Tourism specifically highlighted our Sail250 harbor cruises and tours. These experiences place guests directly among the visiting tall ships and naval vessels. Get your team connected by doing an NYC outdoor team building event aboard one of our large sailboats in NY Harbor. Build communication, camaraderie and have some fun with your colleagues during a NYC team building activity on one of our classic sailboats. This will be an epic NYC Team building experience where your team can learn some important skills. New York City offers a wide range of team building activities and events, but the best way to do a NYC team building and sightseeing event is on a stunning schooner in NY Harbor! Promote an out of office bonding experience and boost team morale!

1. Sail Raising

Our NYC team building events are interactive and fun! We’ll begin with a deck tour and safety briefing followed by a learning segment and some games and friendly competition. For your outdoor team building activities in NYC with Classic Harbor Line, the teams should have 4-6 members and be as equal as possible. Each group will have a dedicated crew member for safety and training. The first game of our team building activity in NYC is “SAIL RAISING.” We’ll start by having our crew demonstrate raising sail on our classic sailboat and then groups will break out to practice using all members to execute the raising as a part of the team building event in NYC. This is an excellent way to foster better teamwork and communication among your company. This is a time contest, and team members must choose roles that best use their skills to execute the sail raising portion of the team building event. The difference in time equates to points. The correctness and completion of the effort is at the captain’s discretion.

2. Knot Tying

The next game in your team building event in New York City is Knot Tying. Three knots are taught privately to three separate members of each team. Then, each team member will re-teach each knot to their teammates during this NYC team activity in preparation for the “KNOT-OFF” where all teams compete at the same time to tie the newly learned knots! Team members cannot touch each other’s lines but can verbally coach each other to do it correctly. The teams compete for points to be the first team to tie all the knots correctly. Knots that are incorrectly tied will have negative points. The knot tying is always a fun part of the team-building activities in New York City.

3. Boat Parts

The last game in your team building event in New York City is called “BOAT PARTS.” Throughout your NYC team building event experience, our team building event crew will point out parts of the boat by their official nautical name. During this game, teams are to disperse themselves strategically throughout the boat. When the Captain calls out a boat part, the team that has a member touch that item first gets points for their team.
