Classic Harbor Line is proud to share a recent feature in The New York Times. The article, “24 Fun Things To Do in January,” highlights seasonal experiences across New York City. We were honored to be included in the Kids section of this winter guide.

While listed for families, our Urban Naturalist Tour: Seals Seabirds, and Winter Wildlife truly appeals to guests of all ages. The experience offers meaningful exploration for adults, teens, and curious travelers alike. January provides a rare opportunity to observe New York Harbor in a quieter season.

Fresh Off the Press!

The New York Times spotlighted our Urban Naturalist Cruise aboard yacht Manhattan II. This guided wildlife cruise operates on select weekends beginning January 11. The route travels through the Buttermilk Channel and along Staten Island’s shoreline. Guests enjoy expansive harbor views throughout the journey.

The cruise includes views of Hoffman and Swinburne Islands, protected wildlife habitats. These islands attract winter seabirds and seasonal harbor seals. Sightings vary each cruise, adding excitement for returning guests. Iconic landmarks including the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island appear along the route.

Expert urban naturalists guide each sailing with thoughtful narration. Guests learn about local ecology, conservation, and urban wildlife behavior. Adults appreciate the depth of information and historical context. Younger guests engage through observation and discovery.

The experience balances education and relaxation in a comfortable setting. Our classic yacht offers heated interiors and large viewing windows. Guests can move between indoor and outdoor spaces as weather allows. The cruise remains enjoyable even during colder winter days.

Although recommended for children ages ten and older, adults often find it equally rewarding. Couples, solo travelers, educators, and photographers frequently join the tour. The peaceful winter harbor creates a reflective and immersive experience.

Thank you for the Feature!

We appreciate The New York Times for recognizing our winter programming. Their inclusion helps introduce new audiences to harbor-based education. We are grateful to our guests who continue to support these experiences.

Classic Harbor Line remains committed to offering enriching cruises year-round. The Urban Naturalist Tour invites all ages to experience New York Harbor differently. January is a perfect time to slow down, observe, and learn on the water.
